If you are a fan of  Colombian Coffee from Fondo Paez, you’re sure to love our current selection from the Southern Cauca region of Colombia. It comes to us as highly recommended by Cooperative Coffees (our main supplier of green coffee) who purchased it from Asociacion de Productores Organicos del Cauca, a small farmer cooperative of 105 families in the municipalities of Tambo, Timbio and Popayan. They are a tight-knit community of hard-working farmers who up until last year had largely sold to a single high-quality buyer and were not required to have Fair Trade certification. They came to Cooperative Coffees as a very good reference from our good friends at Fondo Paez and their exporter ExpoCosurca, when they had an excess production in the 2015 crop and demand for Fondo Paez exceeded available supply.

The coop itself maintains transparent governance and traceability of all their purchases and sales, and supports producers in renovation efforts and infrastructure improvements; however, they have been reticent to take on Fair Trade certification, in part due to costs, but also in part due to Fair Trade politics and the cooperative’s enthusiastic support of the SPP certification.
