Full-bodied. Roasted nuts. Cherry. Light Roast. Colombia Organica is from Asociacion de Productores Organicos del Cauca, a small farmer cooperative of 105 families in the municipalities of Tambo, Timbio and Popayan. They are a tight-knit community of hard-working farmers who up until a few years ago had largely sold to a single high-quality buyer and were not required to have Fair Trade certification. They came to Cooperative Coffees as a very good reference from our good friends at Fondo Paez and their exporter ExpoCosurca, when they had an excess production in the 2015 crop and demand for Fondo Paez exceeded available supply. The coop itself maintains transparent governance and traceability of all their purchases and sales, and supports producers in renovation efforts and infrastructure improvements; however, they have been reticent to take on Fairtrade certification, in part due to costs, but also in part due to Fairt Trade politics and the cooperative's enthusiastic support of the SPP certification.
